You may need to do this if you’ve bought a new remote or shade. These steps apply only to the new remote or shade.
If you are using the Z-Wave Premium remote, click here for instructions.
If you are programming an existing remote that currently controls other shades, start on step 2.
- Reset the remote to make sure you start with a clean slate.
- Press and hold the programming button on the back of the remote for 15 seconds. While holding the button on the remote, the LED will flash through the following colors: a flashing green, followed by a flashing amber, followed by a rapid flashing red, and then the LED will turn off completely. Continue holding the button until the LED turns off. Once the LED is off, release the button. The LED will flash once more to indicate battery status of the remote; green is good, yellow is low, red should be replaced immediately.

- On the shade which needs paired to the remote, press and hold the shade programming button for about 8 seconds, until the shade does a brief back and forth jog in response. If visible, the LED on the shade will begin flashing green at 4 seconds and then turn amber at 8 seconds as the shade jogs. Once the shade jogs, release the button.

- On the back of the remote, quickly tap the programming button twice (two taps within a second). The remote LED will begin continuously alternating between green and amber for about 45 seconds. Continue to step 4 while the remote is alternating green and amber.

- While the remote is continuously alternating green & amber, press and hold the programming button on the shade for about 4 seconds, or until the LED on the shade starts flashing green, and then release the button. The shade should jog shortly after the button on the shade has been released, and both the shade LED and remote LED should change to solid green briefly and then turn off. The shade is now paired with the remote.
- Repeat steps 2-4 for each additional shade that needs paired to the remote.
